Some time ago, Tom and I changed our ministry cards to read, "ministering to those in crisis." Prior to that, we had an emphasis on the maternity home and the women who were being reached by that mission. Since 1983, we focused primarily on pregnant teens and their families. As many of you are aware, we actually began in 1981 with incorrigible teens who had experienced abuse issues and then we evolved into a home for those experiencing a crisis pregnancy. After developing the pregnancy program, we still occasionally opened the doors to those who were not pregnant but who were in need of a safe home. A majority of our time was invested in full-time residents of the program and their families. We had some time for community outreach and began a program to assist single mothers and their children. We offered clothing, food boxes, classes, mentoring and resource help.

"Ministering to those in crisis" seems to now be the new emphasis of Jesus Cares at this time and we marvel at how God was prompting us then to be ready for this shift. For 30 years we were a live-in program that occasionally provided resources to the community and now we are a community resource who occasionally provides live-in residential care. For those of you who have been with us through this shift, we say a hearty, "Thank You!" You have understood our need to stay flexible and pliable in the Lord's hands.
God is allowing us to be a part of seeing individuals, marriages and families restored. We would like to take time in this newsletter to share the comments of those whose lives have been touched through the the residential live-in program as well as the Community Outreach. It is because of your donations, support, love and prayers that we are able to accomplish anything. Tom and I have both served full-time in the ministry since 1987 and we cannot be more grateful that the body of Christ has given us this opportunity. You will not see many pictures of our clients as many of them prefer anonymity. We would, however, like to share their thoughts and expressions of love and gratitude for Jesus Cares Ministries. |

God is moving in the hearts of others. One couple who was reached through marital counseling assistance referred another struggling couple to us. After receiving counsel and help this new couple is wanting to reach their family with the message of the gospel. The message of restoration is spreading to others. The good news of the gospel is going forth and producing. We always tell each individual that receives our help that though our counsel is free, we have one condition. After receiving help they must commit to helping others. They are doing that and we are blessed!
